Louise's Favorite Dog Treats

This is Louise's favorite treat recipe and it's easier than making pie dough. It handles great and from the basic recipe you can flavor with whatever your dog prefers. One recipe makes about 9 dozen ( 3-4 inch dogbone size shape)

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 4 Tablespoons vegatable oil
  • 4 bouillon cubes
  • 2 cups boiling water
If desired add garlic, crisp bacon strips, bacon drippings or your dogs favorite flavor.
1. Combine wheat flour, all purpose flour, cornmeal and vegetable oil. Mix well.
2. Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water. ( For today's treats, I used 2 cups of already prepared low salt beef broth hot).
3. Add bouillon to flour mixture. Mix to make a stiff dough.
4. Add in any desired ingredients. ( For today's treats, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese)
5. Roll onto a floured surface. Cut out small shapes with cookie cutter or glass.
6. Bake in a pre-heated 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. You can place them rather close as they do not spread.
7. Let stand overnight to further harden.
